About Plainly

Plainly turns confusing official documents — leases, medical bills, tax letters, contracts, anything dense — into plain language. Paste text, or take a photo of a document, and Plainly rewrites it so you can actually understand what you're reading. It also tells you what action you might need to take.

Plainly was built for people who get lost in jargon — anyone handling paperwork that wasn't written for them. It works in English, Spanish, Russian, and Polish.

Privacy & Data

When you submit text or a photo to Plainly, the content is sent to Anthropic's API (the company behind Claude AI) for processing. The translation is generated and sent back to your browser. Your documents are not stored on our servers. Anthropic's own data policies apply to the processing of your text — we encourage you to review them at anthropic.com if you're handling especially sensitive information.

When you submit feedback with a comment via the thumbs-down button, that comment is sent to Plainly so we can use it to improve the app. We never collect the original document or the translation itself.

A note on sensitive information

Plainly is intended for general document translation. Please do not submit documents containing Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, passwords, or other highly sensitive identifiers. Redact those before pasting if needed.
